Days Go By...

Some people do get on my nerves sometimes...

MUET is this SATURDAY!

No teeth! No teeth!

Anywayz.

Exams exams exams...

No I WON'T TALK ABOUT EXAMS...kinda gives me headache if I focus too much on that...

So, basically...life was okay...eating Cissy Cheese Biscuits during recesses...and insulting Ooi Jin as usual with SHerry and Li Qin...

Ooh, finally Sherry has a blog...for months she was a sad, deprived person cause she hadn't an Internet access...Gua gua gua...

Muahahahaha...

One teacher in my school fainted...then ambulance came...was thinking how come Malaysians don't train up PARAMEDICS...but some driver would just come and take them away. No offence to drivers but still...how would you know which bone is broken in an accident? I heard that in western countries, you can get sued for moving one about during an accident. Gosh, talk about kind-heartedness...then again, we should have a better rescue system, like 911 in America. Quick, reliable..and even operators are first-aiders...

Monkey...nothing's fast nowadays.

Next time I shall learn to buy my own domain and RULE my world! Muahahahahahaha...*choke choke.

This is still my best picture yet...my class May Ping and Kar Kei.

Where did the scarecrow in Wizard of Oz go after he got his brain?...he ended up to be like Ooi Jin (the person behind) *inside joke..nvm if you don't get it.

This is one of the cutest mascot: A baby shark! Or you can say a shark in Form 1...

Siu Fai in action...he is so pleased with this picture cause Paulynn took effort (by clicking non-stop, don't know how many frames per sec) to take him passing the baton...that he wants to put it on his account on Friendster...(CSF, ask from me the pics)

Look To You

Cause I know my God saved the day
And I know His word never fails
And I know my God made the way for me here
Salvation is here...

Been listening to Paulynn's copy of "United: Look To You" and I really like the whole album.

Last Sunday, spent some time with God and my journal. As I was also reading "And The Bride Wore White: Seven Secrets to Sexual Purity", I felt that I need to evaluate and re-stand on my foundation.

God is sovereign! Jesus is enough!

I am determinde to be governed by my values, not my heart!

Okay, anywayz. Won't go into deep details about that.

Been using Pr Kevin Loo's Everyday Devotional Vol. II and nowadays the verses he took are from Proverbs! The book of wisdom!

1 Timothy 4:12b
"Set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity." So important to live like that in this world now!

Took a break from maths and studies...gotta go back to it soon. :)

Did my speaking trials yesterday. So cool...though I was nervous I think I pulled it off..

I wrote this for MUET homework...what do you think?

Child Abuse: A Social Menace

Someone once raised the question, "If your child ask you for a biscuit, would you have given him a snake instead?" It would be heads shaking in answer. Yet, in a world that we are living right now, some might have nodded. The history of child abuse, though not rampant in early centuries, is becoming more infamous than ever.

Dailies, electronic media and novels in this century constantly highlighted this social problem. We hear of unimaginable treatment that leaves a child with scalded skin or open wounds. Many of these cases go unheard and the children are left to fend for themselves, deteriorating physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
As many cases go unsaid, all the more many reasons are left unknown. Experts believe that it is mainly to be blame on the guardians. Setting too high expectations would only lead to disappointment and the child who failed to please suffers. Adults who were once abused may grow to be abusers themselves. Unfortunately, there are also some who feel that they should exert full authority on the child, resulting in a death-like grip of "discipline".

The growing child who has been through any kinds of abuse will have a distorted health and growth. As mentioned earlier, these abused ones may turn out to be abusers themselves in future. Scarred and bitter for life, the child may never experience the full joy of living. In the end, we will get a society where love and morality cannot develop, instead, a cloud of bitterness and fear will continue to cloak the sky.

Blessedly, there are hearts that are fighting against this abuse; setting up organisations and reinforcing laws to save the future generation of the world. Drop-in centres and help lines are being set up everywhere just to cater for this growing need of love and acceptance. Adults are also receiving help. After all, one major reason of child abuse is the inability to show love towards the child.

Sophocles, an ancient philosopher gave a very interesting thought: "One word frees us all the weight and pain of life: That word is love." Let us then, learn to love others as ourselves for, "If you are hungry, would you have feed yourself a snake instead?"

This is my shortest essay ever written in my whole life! Reason being I need to K.I.S.S it so yeah...this short...of course it's not the best, I am after all, not the best in writing factual essays.

(K.I.S.S = Keep It Sweet & Simple)

Gotta go study now! TTFN, ta ta for now!

Updates...

Thanks to J, I have to update...hehe...hey, Jared, I did say once a week for me right?

Anyway...having another ulcer-y week. Gotta burn this thing before I see my orthodontist. Sigh...

Did I say my class won English Drama?

It's still not easy to surrender and give up to God, trusting Him for everything especially about the course I want to take. Trying to get a scholarship, gosh, it's pretty hard.

My MUET exam is end of this month! 30th April! I really really want to get Band 6, cause then I need not sit for the exam again in October.

Watched Princess Diaries again. The first one was the best lerr...

Was feeling quite blue last week, cause even though we won 'Best Drama', I didn't feel all elated afterwards, having so many arguments and everything which make me felt so depressed...yeah, another valleyful week...but on Saturday it was really a small breakthrough cause the whole day was strings of event in which God penned down for me in His big book...(if He has a book about me that is...come to think of it, that is really really cool...to have a book about yourself..)

So anyway...during PPH (Prayer Powerhouse), we were suppose to pair up and pray for personal breakthrough and some things really went to the core...I was telling myself not to cry because Uncle Jit was the one praying with me but I did anyway...cause I felt so bad about myself to even try to hide it. Every lie of the enemy I have believed...fool I was.

Then, there was Uncle Henry's message which really convicted me again...then the altar call song was "We Will Draw Near To You". I felt loved and forgiven...Then, there was celebration. We had a series of songs which held the theme: Forgiveness, Love, Drawing near to God, etc...

Only one word to say: Wow!

Oh yeah, basically, I'm back on track again with God and its good to be on track again. It helps me to be a better Christian. Of course, I ain't the best example, I fail miserably sometimes, but I know that all I need is Jesus.

Thought about first line of a song:
"It's okay...it's okay..." Nice tune but can't think of the lyrics after that...

Tuesday

Grace

Found this e-booklet while searching for materials, entitled Time With God. Though I just skimmed through, it was quite a refreshing read. Knowing how hard it is sometimes when spending time with God seemed too dry.

What is integrity? Is integrity something people still value nowadays? I find it quite irksome to maintain integrity if that should still exist. It is like ethiques only a different kind of way...or is it sama-sama?

I want to be someone more different...

What is being real? And what is not? Sometimes when we wear a mask to hide our true self, that mask somewhat gets stuck. Then we cannot remove it. No matter how we try to, it just doesn't come out anymore. When you get too serious often, people assumed that you have a really mature, serious behaviour and you wouldn't tolerate immature behaviour. When you try to relax and laugh like a man who has never laughed for a very long time (think Mary Poppins), people might question you, "Are you okay? Do you need to see doctor? Nuts already ah?" And you might be forced to assume back your serious expression, then deep in you, you felt that you don't even know yourself anymore.

Then this is where my title comes in. Recently, I attended a Women's Conference where there is only WOMEN participants (like duh!). On the first day, Pr Lee Choo spoke about self-worth and self-identity. Many times we rely on our friends, our parents, our neighbours, our colleagues, and other people around us to determine our worth. It hurts a LOT when everyone seemed to be rejecting you. It hurts when people walk away when you come near them. It hurts when people say, "Why can't you do this?!" or "Stupid!"...After a while, we believed what they say about us and felt that we are as useless as they say we are...

Grace, however, permeates through and show us the self-worth we should be having. We ask, "What is grace?" To me, grace is the very essence of the church of Christ and Jesus Himself. As Pr Lee Choo continued to say,

I found this definition of grace and I'm gonna share this with you. Grace is the permission that God gave us to be human without feeling sinful.

And where does it applies? Grace shows us that we are not worthless or useless. God understands every inch of us when we feel sinful, when we feel worthless and He will open up His hands to offer grace that will block out all those hurtful words and leaves us secure. It is only because Jesus Christ Himself loved and so He could offer that kind of grace.

We read about the Prodigal Son: The younger son wanted his inheritance and so the father gave. The younger son squandered every bit of his fortune and left with nothing to boast about. Then he realised that his father's servants would probably be able to boast more than him. He felt bad and he went back, seeking to be a servant instead of a son. The father however have been waiting for him, and when he sees his lost son, he rejoiced and ordered that a calf be killed in his honour.

Wait a minute. The father still have the older son right? The older son is a filial kid and yet he received nothing in his honour. Jesus must have gotten the characters wrong, didn't He?

And yet, and yet and yet...

This is the story of grace. As Philip Yancey, author of What's So Amazing About Grace? puts it this way:

In one of His last acts before death, Jesus forgave a thief dangling on a cross, knowing full well the thief had converted out of plain fear. That thief would never study the Bible, never attended synagogue or church, and never make amends to all those he had wronged. He simply said, "Jesus, remember me," and Jesus promised, "Today you will be with Me in paradise." It was another shocking reminder that grace does not depend on what we have done for God but rather what God has done for us...

Another scholar puts it this way:

When it is a question of a sinner He does not merely stand still, open His arms and say "Come hither"; no, He stands there and waits, as the father of the lost son waited, rather He does not stand and wait, He goes forth to seek, as the shepherd sought the lost sheep, as the woman sought the lost coin. He goes --- yet no, He has gone, but infinitely farther than any shepherd or any woman, He went, in sooth, the infinitely long way from being God to becoming man, and that way He went in search of sinners.

You may not agree with the things I say or quote. But think about it. Even so, it's not over yet.
